To provide and improve our services, we may collect the following information:
- Account information: email address, nickname, avatar, grade, major, and gender.
- User-generated content: posts, comments, ratings, partner, errand, and secondhand listings you create.
- Private messages: text, images, and voice messages exchanged between users.
- Uploaded media: photos and audio files you upload.
- Device and log information: IP address, device model, operating system, and app version for security and troubleshooting.
We use hCaptcha during registration to prevent automated abuse. hCaptcha may collect IP addresses, browser characteristics, and interaction data under its own privacy policy.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Provide, maintain, and improve the service.
- Authenticate identity and protect account security.
- Process reports and enforce community rules.
- Send service-related notifications such as verification codes and password resets.
- Comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for targeted advertising.
3. Data Storage and Cross-border Transfer
Your data may be stored on servers located in Hong Kong SAR and/or Singapore. If you access the service from outside these regions, your data may be transferred across borders as part of operating the service.
4. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. You may request a copy of your data through the Export My Data feature in Settings.
If you delete your account, we will anonymize your personal data and remove private messages, follows, blocks, and notifications within 30 days. Public content such as posts and comments may remain in de-identified form. Data required by law may be retained longer.
5. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We may share data with service providers such as cloud hosting, email delivery, and CAPTCHA services strictly for operating the platform. We may also disclose data when required by law, to protect rights and safety, or with your explicit consent.
6. Local Storage and Device Data
The mobile app uses on-device storage such as AsyncStorage or SecureStore to save authentication tokens, language preference, and app settings. UHUB does not use third-party advertising cookies or collect Apple's IDFA.
7. Children's Privacy
UHUB is designed for university students and is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal data, please contact us and we will review and delete it where appropriate.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, or otherwise request action on your personal data. Most user-facing actions described here are available through the app's Settings screen.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes may be communicated through the app or by email.
